I had a Parrot unit in my 2005 R50 and it was very good. As far as sound goes, I installed the Parrot mic above the drivers A pillar instead of trying to fiche it to the headliner above the rear view mirror (stock location).
Unless they have since changed things, on the Gen 1 the factory bluetooth mic was actually on the passenger side of the console above the rear view mirror (worked great for right hand drive).
I found a lot of great info at www.newministuff.com. They are in the UK and have custom plug and play wire harnesses to connect your kit to the radio without cutting wires. Worth every dollar in my opinion even with the exchange rate.
