I did find some dealers were just not willing to budge on their numbers at all when I asked. So I think Your experience will vary depending on the dealership your at.

Worst case scenario, you can just purchase it from a different dealer online or through email/phone.

 

Bought my 2008 Clubman used in 2011 with 37,500 miles (still under original factory warranty to 50,000 and it had a 100,000 maintenance warranty). Extended the warranty with Mini to 100,000. This warranty does NOT cover "bumper to bumper." It cost about $4,000. Two years later I have 75,000 miles on the car and the warranty has paid for nearly $10,000 of "issues" -- not sure if this is a condemnation of Mini's durability or an advertisement for getting the "expensive" warranty from Mini.

 

The warranty...either for BMW or MINI.
