Yeah I know, to some who live further North this may not seem like alot. We regularly get 1ft+ from snowstorms here, but 36inches is the most I can remember in my lifetime.
I lived in Minneapolis during the 1991 Halloween blizzard when Mother Nature dumped 36" of heavy, wet snow. That city which can handle anything just shut down. Ask anyone who lived there during that time...36" of wet stuff is no fun for anyone...
