Uncomfortable seat

My car is a 2009 Hardtop JCW with the lounge leather option. Whenever I drive more than about 25 minutes, my right butt cheek and leg get really sore (and my daily commute is 35 minutes each way). It feels like the right half of the seat has a board in it and the left half does not. What this means is that, since my right cheek is the only part held up by the 'board' *all* of my weight is on that cheek and the board feels really hard.

I do not keep my wallet in my back pocket, so, that isn't it.

The lounge seats are wider than the normal, so, butt too wide and pinching is not a likely candidate.

I have searched and have read unconfirmed thoughts like the lift mechanism is on that side and may be causing the problem.

Has anyone found a solution to this?

If I could raise the seat up without the lifting mechanism going up this would put some space between the seat and the mechanism (if this really is the problem). Anyone tried something like this?

HELP!

Bob

1) Make sure you are centered in the seat and not leaning, even slightly to the left.

2) Keep your left foot on the the foot on the footrest.

I have the lounge leather seats, and I find I also develop some sciatic pain in the left leg and buttocks after driving a while. I have never experienced this while driving any other vehicle. This is frustrating because I generally take several trips a year that are anywhere from 2-6 hours long. It is one of the few little things I find disappointing about my beloved MCS. I think it's the lounge leather seats. My son has the standard cloth seats in his 09 Clubman S and I find them much more forgiving and comfortable.

I have this problem too... had a custom cushion made that sits on top of the seats... then a custom cover (all for about 175) ... helps but the bolsters are still felt... anyone ever replace a seat with something else?

Man you must have buns-o-steel. As an old guy I find them intolerable on 2+ hr trips, so much so that I bought a cushion that provides some relief. This is my wifes CM S and is the second mini she has owned (both unconfortible for me). She doesnt have a problem with it. Whe also have a full size truck and have driven that non-stop from Houston to Denver without a problem. Googled this and saw that this is one of many threads on the sport seats.

Go Badges makes something called a "seat wrap". It's a thin cushion that sits on the seat bottom and has a tab that tucks in between the seat back and seat to hold it in place. I have them in my Countryman on my Lounge Leather seats. They're more for decoration (mine are Black Jack), but they do provide a little extra cushioning. You might give that a try.

I had similar problems with my 2009, but solved them by tilting the seat base a bit higher in front. I accomplished that by placing a stack if stainless steel washers under the front mounting point for the seat track. The mounting bolt is long enough to allow about a half an inch of adjustment. That was plenty for me.

Do this: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...orts-seat.html

In my personal and painful experience, issues like the OP described were the result of a spinal disk bulge pressing on a nerve. Lots of PT and specific exercises solved the problem, the key to keeping it from coming back is proper lumbar support. The thread above has got part numbers, instructions, pictures, everything you need. This is cheap, quick, easy, and pays back every time you get in the car.

Surprised to hear this, I love my seats. Maybe that's because I'm coming from rock hard e46 seats, and then my jeep wrangler seats.
