Racechip USA - Chiptuning

Okay, so I'm an N18 owner who is waiting for a tuning option that doesn't include sending my ECU off.

I ran into a product today that I hadn't heard of before and I'm wondering if I just missed it until now or if it's new to the scene. It's a piggyback tuner, which isn't normally my preference, but with the N18 there are fewer options. Also, I like the idea of being able to take it off and not having someone solder onto the board... although I salute those who have sacked up and done that anyway.

Any thoughts on or experience with this product?

Sure thing, thanks Braminator. Here's my ride...

2011 MCS: Cold air intake, 3" exhaust, hot side boost tube, blow-off adapter, intercooler.

I don't see anything on that link about this Racechip tuner on the link. This is one that I hadn't heard of, and the numbers look pretty good. Am I missing something on that page?

Thanks man!

Looks cool. Look in the link for http://www.minidynamics.com/ they are now selling those chips. No guinea pigs yet though.

Actually, a buddy of mine was just telling me about mini dynamics (talking about how much he loved them) and that's how I stumbled on this tuner. They have it on sale now. The "ultimate" tune looks pretty decent for gains given that it's easily removed.

I did some searching on NAM and was surprised that no one had started talking about it yet.

So be the 1st and make sure to do dyno runs before and after. Then you can post your results.

Perhaps. I'll chat with Scott at Mini Dynamics and see what he says. The ability to easily remove the product and have things go back to stock is attractive. I think that's one of the reasons why so many N18 cars are still un-tuned.

Will do. I chatted with Cindy at Race Chip USA as well. Sounds like they're bigger in Europe than here, just kind of getting started here now, but they have some experience under their belts.

Someone started a thread on MINI Dynamics here: The OFFICIAL MINI Dynamics ECU Tune Thread

A couple Countryman owners tried it: RaceChip (Pro): a workable ECU tune solution (and possible group buy)?
