R56 Fuel Injection

Fuel Injection
I have the 2009MCS with about 28,000 miles. The dealer recommended a fuel injection service when it nears 30,000 miles for approximately $590-$600. This sounds overpriced. Is this necessary to get done through the dealer? Can I add Techron? I consistently pump Chevron with Techron's 91.
Thanks in advance!

sounds like a ripoff. You can buy a bottle of Techron at Walmart for about $6. I put a bottle through my '09 R57 about every third fillup.
Just to be curious I would ask him whats involved in the service they are recommending, and ask for a written estimate listing any parts and materials. Bet he won't give you one as about $595 of it will be labor and rip-off charge.

That was the first thing I thought too. Of course we live and learn. I took mine in with what turned out to be the HPFP but before they got to that, they did the walnut blast, replaced the fuel injectors and spark plugs. I think they knew what it was all along but sense the HPFP was a recall, they needed to make some money to cover the warranty work!
