I did. Similarly equipped JCW runs about $4500 more. Considering the extra horses would be wasted on me given my current commute and uses for my car, I just can't substantiate the cost.

I also have a teen driver in my home who may, on rare occasions, drive this car. JCW in his hands.... yikes!!

When I was pricing out JCWs the difference was only about $2500, as you didn't have to buy the JCW packages.

Just built one on the configurator using exact options as I have set up for my "S" build. Almost exactly $3,000 difference. Not as much as I though. Considering I would have to have the roof and mirror caps painted (or swapped out), looking really at about $1800 difference.

Worth a re-consideration, I suppose. Would just have to hide the keys from my teenager.

OP looking forward one of these up coming days to see your New Machine once it comes in.

Thank you, yes... especially since, after building about 125 different configurations on the MINIUSA website, I have decided to go ahead and get the JCW.

Refresh my memory .......
The JCW you are ordering is it the (Body-Kit) or the Higher HP JCW ?
I ask because this week when I purchased the 2011 MCS there was also a 2012 JCW right beside it.
Come to find out that there is more than one JCW.
There is the JCW appearance package.
Then there is the Bad-Boy with the POWER !!!

That is why I am asking as I don't know if for 2013 the same JCW packages are still available.

BTW, you might have said in your 1st Post so I probably should have just went back and read it once again.

But you might not mind elaborating once again anyway.

Our 2011 MCS as of this Tuesday

I'be decided to get the JCW which means the one with the more powerful engine.

A MINI, even the base model with no Turbo, can be ordered other a JCW interior package and/or a JCW exterior package. Neither of those has anything to do with the engine.

The dealership can also add a JCW tuning kit to a MINI S. Hence the term Factory JCW to distinguish between the two.

A factory JCW has the JCW badge in the lower grille, the boot door, and the engine.

Others can add to that if I missed anything. Hope that helps! Congrats on your MINI..... she's a beaut!

Very interesting on the JCW packages.

I know you have to be like so "Pumped" on the day your's is built & then when you actually take "Delivery".

I think I will check and see if my Mini Dealer can bump my newly acquired MCS to add the JCW (Power).

Now that would be KILLER for sure.

I think you made the right decision on getting the JCW that actually is for POWER/Added-Performance.

The factory JCW also has different exhaust tips, I don't think they come in the JCW packages. Being able to add all the JCW stuff to non JCW is very slightly annoying that there's so little to distinguish a JCW from other models. The red roof is another JCW exclusive, but you had plans to get around that.

yep.... thanks a ton for the input. I am seriously excited! And those horses that will be largely wasted on me..... nice to have those horses in the stable for those times I want to get them out and stretch their legs.

Just occurred to me...

Since I've decided on a JCW R56, there is no hurry to beat the deadline for the switch over to the F56, CORRECT ??

Aren't the JCWs always a year or two behind in the change over to the new platform ? Besides, they just started using the N18 engine in the JCWs last year. certainly they wouldn't have bothered if they were going to use the F56 platform for the JCWs in 2014.

Can anyone verify ?

The JCW is a variant of the hardtop, so I'm expecting it to be affected the same as other hardtops. (Whatever that is.) The JCW may be more in danger than others, as as you note, the JCW lags a bit. You might find there is no JCW available at all. I'd be very surprised if the R56 JCW was produce after the rest of the R56s stopped. I'd be unsurprised if the F56 came without a JCW variant immediately.

Chili Red body and roof

You most certainly CAN get body and roof in Chili Red on an S. JCW not required. I just tried it on the configurator and it works just fine. Try it yourself. Red is the best color according to Phil Wicks and me. :-)

My bad, I misunderstood. I thought you wanted body and roof in red. I tried to get white silver body and roof on the JCW I recently ordered and it was a no go. Dealer didn't mention any special order possibilities.

No problem. And yeah, odd that they don't offer body color roof when you order a White Silver MINI.
