Exhasut, Big Turbo and Porting
I have a question about those who go the big turbo route which I am doing soon. Does it make sense to have a bigger exhaust when the limiting and non "modifiable" factor is the turbo itself. I mean it sits right in the exhaust stream an limits flow. No matter what you have behind it, the flow is limited by the turbo. I see all these folks talk about 3" pipe but..., what's the point?
Modifying the exhaust MANIFOLD makes more sense after one ports the head. Would like more info on the EVOLVE tune from those with a KO4 turbo.

the point is less back pressure and free'er flow. Seriously you think having a tight, constrictive exhaust is ok because the turbo itself is a "restriction"????? Dude, do some research, PLEASE. the turbo has a job to do and it does it more efficiently the less back pressure it's fighting against. the turbo will work far better the more you open up the exhaust. it's not just the motor pushing gasses THROUGH the turbo and out to the "upgraded for no reason" exhaust. It's pushing air into the turbo that then compresses the air and provides a power increase. It does a job, it doesn't just sit in the exhaust path. Damn....
