After 5,000 miles of driving, I have no update really. The entire steering system is tight and precise with no problems at all. It's still under MINI's warranty for the next 95,000 miles. It was an expensive fix but worth it because of the warranty. You could probably bring your car to an experienced technician whether it be a friend or an independent shop and have it diagnosed/repaired cheaper than the $1,500 it was at the MINI dealership. You won't get the warranty through MINI on the repair but if that's cool with you, I'd do that and save probably $500.

The car is actually for sale now if anybody is interested.
