I've seen it on a few VWs... I can tell you.. You'll never resell the car..
If you want that look... But for less destruction, check into plasti-dip. At least you can peel it off.

I would not Line-X the car. Like most have said your resale market would be very small because you can not get it off. Second it's looks good until it starts to weather and fade. I have it in the bed of my truck and is very hard to keep it looking new. I could see doing the very bottom if you lived on a gravel road or something like that.

Hahaha the inspiration for an indestructible line-x mini comes from my half mile long dirt/gravel driveway and from west coast customs (they did it to a camarro). I'm not too worried about resale value because its almost paid off and I plan on keeping it even if I move on to a different vehice. I can't get rid of my mini... I'm sure you all understand.

Rough
I rhino lined a 76 ford Ranger that was a trail rig. Let me tell you, that stuff is rough. There is no way to get a smooth surface so you will never get a nice looking finish after washing it. The stuff is VERY strong but adds a lot of weight to the vehicle.
Dont plan on washing your car with a nice mit, it will eat it up. good luck!

My main concern was added weight, I'm glad you guys brought that up. Any idea how much weight approximately that would be added with line-x paint job? The last thing I want to do is add a few hundred lbs to a 2500lb car. Thanks for everyone's input. I'm considering just doing a line-x "bra" to limit weight and cover the main parts of the car that would get damaged.

kalbone, why did you not do what you did to the bonnet to the rest of the front bumper? Flex?
Edgy, you mentioned needing to paint your front clip because of your rock driveway.. Are you saying your throwing rocks and beating up the front clip?? or just that small area right behind the wheel/tire??

I have a 2002 MCS and between the grit that they throw down on I-70 and almost every other road in Colorado during the winter, my hood and aero kit bumper are heavily nicked up by the little bits of gravel and stuff that hit it. I had the front bumper cover repainted once already (right after I got the car to make it mine!) but the lower air-dam has been damaged and I'm thinking of buying a new front bumper cover (aero kit) and then it would be like new again. I also am thinking that painting the hood wouldn't hurt - it's taken a few hits and the stripes look pretty bad after 12 years.
Whatever would hold up the best would be the ticket - I'm just not sure what that is.

Back I'm the day when I was working in a body shop... I used "Body Schultz" undercoating on a few cars to cover the lower quarters and rockers, the cars were mostly white, yellow, or red so the black rubber looked really good, and did the job of preventing stone chips from gravel roads. (Think "World Rally Cross" type of driving)
