R56 Plasti Dip Mini
#51
There are a few people that do a nice job with plasti dip and they've really turned me around to it(and I'm a big vinyl fan). I've been working on doing my chrome trim slowly.
I think if you peel the dip off the flares and skirts it would look better Braminator, but it's your car. You like it, rock it.

I keep a can of the Plati-Dip in the back in case of curb scratches.

with all due respect....look at the source, its coming from a guy who does vinyl wrapping....
i can only bet hes been loosing money since plastidip became popular...and therefore he is hardly the most unbiased source.
we also dont know if the guy with the suburau used actual plastidip or some other type of rubberized coating like under-chassis spray.
given the fact that there are thousands of people dipping their cars, and only a hand full of posts about people having issues.....ide be willing to bet that plastidip is perfectly safe for your car.

I have personal and professional experience with both products and my personal opinion is that which product you choose will depend on two things - how long you plan on having it for, and most importantly, the amount you are willing to spend. From afar or from photos, plastidip looks alright. However, plastidip up close looks atrocious in my opinion. It is GREAT for people looking to experiment with colors on a project (like wheels) before making a commitment, and even greater for budget-friendly projects. I prefer vinyl, and so far I have never seen anything plastidipped in person that has changed my mind. Vinyl IS expensive and not everyone has the budget for it which is totally understandable. As for durability, we daily-drive a GTR with the matte metallic blue vinyl about 36 miles a day and there is zero "chipping" from any elements. Vinyl doesn't exactly "chip."
To each their own.

It looks great.
It's alot of work to upload 40 photos. I know... I have a cool car photoblog with over 15,000 of the best car photos in the world that I publish at the following url for free:

Please check it out!
Anyway, just edit down the ones you need to about 12, and post 3 at a time!

I'm really blown away by the negative reactions to plastidip when there are so many who use it (myself included). Everyone has their own style of things and what they think looks good on a car. Its a great tool for non-damaging personalization and fits into the budget of those who don't or don't want to spend the money. I give the guy with the orange car an A for effort. I think it looks great but think the emblems, side scuttles and side skirts should be black. By no means do I think his car looks like crap or deserves such harsh words. If you've got an ill opinion of something, constructive criticism goes a long way. Being a phallus does not.

I think 300 bucks to change the color of your car is pretty awesome. I am pretty sure after plasti dipping a couple of times you learn how to perfect it. It chips? Well crap take 10 minutes out of your day to fix it. Worried about scratches from removing it? Don't us your fingernails. you literally have to rub a corner on the car and it starts peeling. Vinyl is great because you have something long lasting, but if i get bored of it what do i do? Plastidip means i have options, vinyl is a commitment. Granted vinyl is better and looks alot better, plastidip can be the same way.
