Cold Air Intake

OK - I know this is on a Pontiac - Not a Mini.
Has anyone used this product before?

I don't want my R56 looking like a ghostbusters car.

Do it well and you can be rewarded. I did something similar with one of my old Subarus. Ran ducting from the stock intake tubes through the fender to a fog light opening. Black ducting on a black car so you never saw it(besides the missing fog light) and the dyno said it gave me 10hp and 5 torques.

All right this seems to be the thread that is most relevant to my search. I am exploring air ducting options for my R56 base. After having a lot of fun with the K&N Typhoon intake, I got brave and started taking things apart. Now I am running a customized open intake w/o the silencer+pipe to the air duct. For base Coopers, the only air duct that leads to the stock intake box is a small opening (2.5" by 1.5") right next to the driver side headlight. With the hood down, all the air we get is through the thin gap between the hood and the headlight rings. I am sure the brilliant engineers who designed this had perfect reasons, but I don't think it hurts to get more fresh air into the engine bay.

Has anyone tried to add an additional air duct somewhere? One option is to remove my dummy fog lights and route a pipe upward into the engine bay, but how effective is that? Without the vacuuming effect of a closed-box intake, how much fresh air can be pushed through the pipe?

This is not just for the intake but also for the overall ambiance under the hood.

By the way, my current setup (WAI) gets me 42 mpg, which is comparable to what I got with the half-open K&N box (Warm & Cold) and higher than with the stock closed box (CAI). I am sure true CAI is awesome, but if I can't feel the benefits, it is not for me. :-)

Do you have a picture of the setup under the hood? Thanks!
