MINI OEM Roof Decal question

Hey there,
Today I received a black "MINI" OEM roof decal ($100). Well. Long story short...I messed it up big time. I ordered another one and am rethinking my technique.

I am going to center it, mark it, then cut the letters the decal (not the actual letters) into sections....and install them a section at a time.

You are supposed to spray the roof with water before you install the letters, but I am wondering if anybody else has had luck with a soap and water solution to make the installation process smoother. I thought it might help with moving the letters into place and with getting the air bubbles out. Let me know if anybody has an experience or tips or tricks....
thanks

-J

Here is a link to the Install PDF for the Union Jack Decal, same idea. Talks about some tricks and procedures.

You really have to careful on laying down the decal and working the bubble out with the plastic blade . Like hood stripes.

I also found Blue scotch painters tape helps keeping things in place and then also with pealing the top protection paper back.

Thanks and good luck.

A couple of drops of soap in the spray bottle are good.

You can also use Windex window cleaner.

Trick is to keep everything wet until you are happy with the positioning.
I wet the car and the back of the decal.

I'd recommend you buy some cheapy decals at an auto store to practice and get the feel on a pane of glass (can be easily scraped off)

Awesome! Thanks everyone. I actually figured out the couple drops of dish soap method...works really well. I installed a couple of stripes on the boot the other day and they look like they were done by a pro. I am still waiting for the MINI decal to come.

Nice work! That is a good looking car. And I like the MINI on top better than I thought I would. Hood stripes work well with that whole look.

Looks great and with the OEM MINI Roof rack bars, bravo on a great job.

Looks cool with a picture from a MINI on the street and taken from a tall building.
