Slammed r56 with ground clearance issue? Speed bump?
Hello there, I had my r56 lowered on Megan coils for a while now and just today I got new wheels, 16x8 +25 with 195/40/16 s drive. With this setup my wheel gap got bigger from thinner tires and also the entire chassis of the car got lower to the ground and the bottom of the car (I assume side skirt area maybe the jack point) would make impact with the higher speed bump.
Any of u have this problem? I know some of u guys go way low, perhaps u guys don't have speed bumps in ur country?
Any solution? Right now I'm thinking maybe I should get taller tires like 195/45 or even 195/50?
Thanks

There are speed bumps all over the US. Either you hit them and deal with the damage caused or you raise the car. Taller tires could work but you're more likely to rub and the handling will start to deteriorate. If you're worried about it just raise the car.
Also helps to go super slow over the speed bumps so when the front tires drop off the other side the whole car doesn't drop down and compress the suspension getting even lower for a little bit.

I slammed my car with around with 3 inch front clearance.
I scrap going in and out of plaza, some super tiny speed bumps and going up and down parking lots in downtown. You just have to learn how to drive it properly and you should be about to mitigate scrapping.
It's form > function but I think it's worth it for the looks.

I'm running 23 inches fender to ground all around and with a full tank of gas 22.75 in the rear on my mini with 17x8 205/40-17. It's all a game of angles. I have a significant grade getting into the parking lot in my apartment complex and only scrape when i don't take the angle correctly. My jack pads are probably 1/4 inch smaller than factory but it's really not horrible. driving down the road as long as i avoid nasty potholes or raised manhole covers i don't scrape. I'd like to run a 16 inch wheel with 40 series tires, but my car's speedo is off enough already. I set my cruise at 77 to go 72 miles an hour on the freeway.

When I had those coils on I had to crawl over everything, speed bumps, driveways, small pebbles....but it looked soo good! Had just over an inch of clearance under that front flap, but I loved every day of it, even if it was a pain to get around town in.
Post a couple pictures up! I'd love to see it.
