Add a little horse power

I've had my 2008 Mini Cooper s for about a year. I'm ready to give it a little more horse power. I'm new to the mini world can some one help me on the best way to go about this. Just want to add a little more kick to my
Mini. Thanks

You're going to get a whole lot of suggestions and critics who will all bag every suggestions.

I personally started with an Ark Design exhaust(down pipe back), I have an AEM CAI in the mail...
Next mods will be a larger intercooler & maybe a downpipe.

Depends on what you are going for...as far as direction...
I AutoX mine so I'll go Coilovers and strut bar too.

Hope that helps

As far as looks I'm gonna lower it with ground control coilovers and looking into getting some rota RBs. What kind of extra horse power did the exhaust get you? I thinking about a new exhaust and and a cold air intake. Will this add some horse power or would I have to tune to even get any horse power from them.

JB+ by far is the best bang for your buck if you just want to add a little more go in your oversized go kart :D check out the thread it has in the modification forums

PS adding a CAI and catback won't give much if any added HP

Did not notice the year of the car, I know nothing of the N14 engines except you have a much larger market when it comes to tuning options

I don't think I would be able to get 93 octane where I'm at.

Ark design looks exhaust is pretty affordable. Did you notice a little more kick when you installed it?

A tune and DP will give you HP. You also may want to look into a FMIC so if you decide to get a custom tune or dyno tune the power delivery will be smooth in the high revs.

So do some don't. CAI's don't add much of anything except a dent to your wallet. They are similar to a front strut brace (really there to wow you friends and look all racer like)

For the price of a CAI just get an ECU tune and see how you like that (there are several options for your engine).
NM has a really nice one that shouldn't turn your clutch and/or transmission into paper a weight.

http://www.nm-eng.com/nmchip-nm-eng-ecu-tuning.html

I have a JB+ on my 2013 MCS and really like the extra power and torque. It's simple and effective (and the price is right)

Yes, I know that the natives are restless and my opinions will probably ignite into some bolt on/strap on war, but it's a cold and rainy day here in the PNW and I'm not out motoring in the Cooper so .....

I have a ton of performance parts to get you up to a stage 3 (Intercooler, exhaust, catless downpipe, intake, Alta acessport, etc) if you were interested in some kind of package deal. I ran this set up and I couldn't believe the power difference... PM me if you are interested.

I have the AEM 21-699C CAI and Magnaflow 2.5 inch catback exhauston my 08 R56.
As in the video by Climber Dave you only see a 1.7% increase ONLY if you get OUTSIDE AIR, which the 21-699C does by using the hood scoop to direct the air into the filter housing. I do plan to add the 3 inch downpipe, remove the Turbo muffler and possibly a larger intercooler next. I removed the rear seat with a seat delete kit and dyna mat. Probably saved 20 LBS wieght. Lot's of choices to make little increases.
