R56 Removing shift boy?

I hope you didn't cut the collar that holds the top of the boot to the bottom of the shifter.
Because without the collar (overtime) the shift boot will become "saggy".
It will slowly sit lower and lower until your shifter is exposed. Which is as ugly as it gets.
The entire shifter assembly in the cabin can be removed without any tools.
1. The shift **** pulls upwards, just watch out not to hit your face.
2. The bottom of the shift **** has a knotch the holds onto the shift boot collar.
3. The bottom of the shift boot is clipped onto the center console with a trim ring.
4. The top of the shift boot is connected to the **** with a plastic collar.
