tpms question

Hi, does anyone know if the tpms sensors on a 2007 r56 will fit and work on a 2009 r57S? Iam giving my 2009 r57S wheels to my son and Iam buying new wheels. I wanted to use his sensors on his rims on my 2009 r57S so I do not have to take both sets of wheels apart....thanks

Play around with the vehicle configurator and compare model numbers of tpms sensor

Yes. Ok, there, I said it.

The tpms sensors from 2007 r56 to 2009 are interchangeable. Just install and reset the system.

2010+ use a different sensor frequency and won't work with earlier cars! and vise versa.

Thanks, so your saying that I can just program them from the car? Anyone know the procedure?

Well....not QUITE that simple....check the production date of the 2007....
Remember hearing somebody say his early 2007 had indirect tpms like on a gen1...not sure of the cutoff date....hopefully not sending you on a wild goose chase....but seems nothing on mini's are simple at times....
Look at the valve stems on the 2007....
If they are rubber...it has the indirect system.....
You could type in the vin #'s of both cars into realoem.com, and see if the same part # comes up....or one is missing the part...

It has the metal type. I had changed the rims to different set last year. I was more worried about the 2009's fitting on the 2007 and the 2007's fitting on the 2009. I don't want to break down both sets of wheels. If I can just throw my 2009 wheels on his car and break down his wheels to go with my new rims and run flats. Is It easy to program tpms from the car?

my 2007 S did not have 'active sensors'

but still used the ABS based system. The truck my car arrived on carried some of both . . .

and don't draw big conclusions about stems ... may apply to MINI but my new car (not MINI) with TPMS (now mandatory in the US) has rubber stems all around . . .

First Phase done. We Put my wheels on my sons car and after resetting alarm everything worked out great. Now next week I will put my new wheels on with a different set of sensors from a 2009 mini I bought on ebay. I figured that I would leave the sensors in my sons old 2007 wheels to keep them all together so we can have an extra set of wheels.
