2009 Mini Cooper question

Hi

I used to be a MINI owner (had a 2006 Cooper S) but sold it in 2009 when I moved to Manhattan.

Now i'm moving out of Manhattan and need to get a car again, so of course I want a MINI.

I found a 2009 that has all the options I want and is Certified Pre-Owned, but have 2 questions:

1) Is Certified Pre-Owned a good deal?
2) Are there any real problems with the 2009 make of the MINI?

I hope this is the right forum for asking these questions. If not, I can move to the proper forum.

Thanks for any advice!

P.S. - my signature and website are all out of date… it's been years since I've been on NAM

Cpo cars are great they come with extended warranty and are all set and good to go when u buy them. But should be bought from a dealer. They go over the whole car and replace all that needs and etc.

+1 on getting one from a dealer.

AND, you have to get a blue one again so you can call it Grover again...perfect for a blue car!

You want to listen for a cold startup rattle. There is a campaign/recall for the timing chain. Aside from that, a good test drive will reveal all.

MINI Next / CPO has to be less than 5 yrs old and this car must be on the edge. The
ext warranty is only for 6 years so your not getting much warranty, it better be priced right.

Yeah I'm going to ask how much warranty is left. The price seems good to me and is accurate to what Kelley blue book says a CPO should be priced at. It has about 43,000 miles on it.

I bought my CPO car 19 months ago for far less than what KBB had for a CPO car, just a little more than non-CPO cars, so work on them a little bit.

That's good advice. I plan on working on that price a bit compared to a KBB price buying from an individual.

Yes, it was originally marked $18,900 but
There is always room to negotiate used.

The dealer has this one listed at $12,500. The private party price is $9,300 by KBB. So I should shoot somewhere in between yes?

Obviously this is all dependent on a good test drive and seeing the car.

I just recently traded my 09 justa. It had 73,000 miles on it. It was very reliable. I only had a few issues. It needed an axle seal at 60000 miles, and cost 350.00. At 72,000, it needed a new temp sensor o ring. I was also getting a clunking sound from the rear suspension. I suspected a failing end link.
I was very happy with that car, but I traded it for a new clubman.

Non S? Disregard my timing chain comment. Everything is negotiable once you're standing in front of the car.

Well, I got sucked back in by the S

I went to test drive the 2009 MINI that I was originally contemplating, but there was also a 2011 Cooper S that they had on the lot and when I drove it, I got sucked back in by it. It also just felt like a more solid car for some reason, so I think i'm going to go for the S.

Anyone know of anything I should be on the lookout for the 2011 Cooper S?
