Changed clutch, now elec. problems?
Good morning All......I am a new member, however, I do not own a Mini....my Grandson does, and I do the work on it for him. He has owned a 2009 R56 "s" for about three months, and the clutch went out. Well, needless to say, he could not afford to get the job done but, because of my previous mechanic experience, I "volunteered" to do the job for him. Well, not having even looked under the hood of a Mini since the late 60's, I guess I really took on a challenge! After a lot of research, and thanks to the Members of this Forum for so much information, I did complete the job...but since completing the clutch r&r, we are having some electrical "spoofs". I should mention that while I had it "down" I also put new front pads in, and a new "pad sensor" on the drivers side. Now the clutch is fantastic (thank you Arrin at JM Turbo Coopers), but we can't seem to get the brake warning light out, and now the turn signals won't cancel and the wipers come on by them selves. Is there a special sequence to do after having the ECM unplugged? or did I Boo Boo? any help is appreciated! Thank you, Don

This may sound strange, but these MINIs are very susceptible to bad batteries. When a battery goes bad all kinds of odd electrical things can happen. Check the battery first. You may have to get the MINI plugged into the mother ships computer to turn the brake warning off, but I'm not positive about that.
Hope I've helped a bit.

Did you tie the steering wheel in place when you disconnected the steering shaft to drop the subframe? If not your clockspring might have gotten messed up a little. I think there is a calibration procedure. Something like turn the car on and turn the steering wheel all the way left and right a few times. See if that helps with the turn signal cancelling.
For the brake warning light you'll need to reset the brake maintenance. Not sure if you can do that yourself or have to go to the dealer.
I got nothing on the wipers. Were rain-sensing wipers an option?
