Aux Water Pump Noise After Shutdown

Halp!

I've been having an issue with a noise my mini is making after shutdown. The AUX water pump used to sound smooth as silk with a slight hum, but now there is a sizzle/hissing sound...

this is right at the end of the ~7 minute cycle, so you can hear it shut off... but the sizzle sound concerns me. MINI says it's normal... ha! unless of course your mini does this also, which would be a great relief to me...

User Palodelincak is having this problem, and this is his video which captures the problem also, although his sounds worse compared to mine...

I hear the hum/buzz and sizzle on my 2012. Became more noticeable after replacing coolant hoses and flushing system. The sizzle tends to go away within a few minutes.

mine does go away after a few minutes too, sometimes... sometimes goes away, sometimes lasts the entire cooldown phase, if that makes sense

I wish I could say i did something to start this (lines, flush, etc) but it just developed about 9 months after purchase.

thanks for the reply.

The first video doesn't raise any red flags, it sounds fine to me. My aux pump sounded like it had air bubbles in it right before my thermostat housing started leaking out coolant. Well at least I now know it was air bubbles in the aux pump and that air had indeed seeped in as my thermostat housing was leaking. The air bubbles made the pump sound louder and I was worried, but after removing air from the cooling system it was much more quiet.

Why do you believe there's a problem? Is the aux pump not pumping coolant into your turbo? Your video sounds normal just like mine, I'm sure you won't take my word for it. What's the point of this thread if you don't except the replies?

My aux pump was replaced about 10k miles ago, I'm sure it's not going to sound exactly the same later down the road because it's made of plastic. It's relatively new to the Mini, we shall see how long it lasts and if others have noticed a change in sound. Air in the system can make a huge difference in it's sound. It's too early to tell for now.
