Timing Chain Replacement questions (pulley bolt and serpentine belt removal)
Greetings. I am about to do the time chain casette replacement on my 2009 Cooper S hatchback (automatic transmission), due to the "death rattle" noise the old chain is making.
(I called dealer--this is not under warranty in my case).
I have a couple of questions though. The repair bulletin states:
"Step 6: Remove crankshaft bolt inside the crankshaft pulley". So we are talking about this...

Right? And to get it off, I will need to screw bolts into the threaded holes and brace them against a breaker bar or something to keep it from turning like this:

Correct?
Finally, anyone have luck removing the serpentine belt without the special tool made for that purpose? (And if so, how?)
Thank you!
