R56 Stock Flywheel Weight

I am in the process of replacing my flywheel and clutch and just weighed the OEM replacement (Sachs). For anyone interested, the replacement Dual Mass Flywheel weighs 28.0 lbs.

Ive been looking at lightweight flywheels for my other car and cannot find the OEM weight (its nice to know how much lighter the lightweight replacement is) and find it very aggravating. So, if anyone is looking for the weight of the R56 MCS, here it is. BTW, mine is an 07 hardtop, not that it matters.

Wait... the thread title says flywheel weight but then you say "clutch weighs 28lbs". Which is it?

The DMF flywheel weighs 28#. the R56 clutch and pressure plate are about 9-10#.

It seems odd that the base steel flywheel offered by JMTC is 36 pounds, heavier than stock. Even the "lightened" steel wheel is 30 pounds. I would imagine a solid flywheel has different characteristics.

I bought a Clutch Masters single mass flywheel and just weighed it and it's 22lbs. 6lb savings over dual mass. I'm hoping it makes my 2007 MCS JCW a bit more repsonsive.

Stock dual mass are always heavy . Big jump to go to the single mass.
