As I discussed in my low-heat thread, I recently set up an Ultra-Gauge on my '08 Justa hatch with 122k miles. The first couple of days I installed it there weren't any errors or problems noted. This morning I drove the car about 15 miles, and a few times got a "Pending P0015" error code pop up. So the first question is - what is a "pending" error code? I'm not seeing any errors on the car's info center. But second, is the P0015 an early warning of a problem with the timing chain or tensioner? This car is one I picked up 6 months ago with 122k on the clock, and I've driven about 500 miles total thus far. I don't know the history of whether the timing chain tensioner has been replaced. When cold (under 20 degrees) you do get some noise from the belt-side of the engine that does quiet down. Once warm you sometimes get a rapid ticking sound that seems to fast for a lifter noise - but it's inconsistent.

"Pending" is not really a code. It was something that was seen briefly and went away.

A quick look says that the code is for "camshaft B over-retarded". Could be a hiccup in the VANOS system, could be some one-time electronic glitch, or might be something to do with the timing chain setup. Keep an eye on it. If inclined and capable, you might remove the valve cover and visually inspect the plastic chain guides for damage.
