Bentley's says 14.8 V and higher probably means a faulty voltage regulator. I'm going to pursue that possibility.

It's quite common to hear of a faulty voltage regulator failing to provide enough of the required voltage, even rarer to hear of over-voltage. Although in your case it might seem likely as I have never seen my Mini go past 14.2, it bounces between 14.0 - 14.2 volts. Did you test the voltage coming out of the source/alternator?

That should be the tell tale sign that it's actually overvolting your system, if so then it's good that you caught it. Another thing I thought of yesterday was if your charging system is charging at that higher than average rate then maybe it sees something hidden, like a drain somewhere for which it's compensating for.

I would worry more about damaging the ECU and related electronics!

I went to start my 07 MCS with (101,000 Kms) and upon ignition all the warning lights on the dash came on, my tachometer and speedometer are also disabled even when engine is revved or in motion. the display cycles through the mini on lift symbol, abs symbols ( photo attached).
I have also lost the keyless entry, trunk won't open. I dunno if it's relevant but I went on a quick road trip over the weekend and it was pretty rainy and wet. The car drove fine before and I've always kept up maintenance. Most recent service was an oil change
I have disconnected and reconnected battery, still nothing. The BMW service center nearest to me is 110kms away. If anyone on here has any idea what it could be, I'd appreciate some help trouble shooting before I have to drive to the stealership.

Do you fix the problem? I have the same issue and make me crazy
