Needed: Donor R56 2007+? Axels for possible aftermarket option!
Hi Guys,
Forgive my lack of involvement on the board, I don't own a Mini, but have recently spent a good bit of time giving one a "Mini Makeover" while the owner was out of town. One of the things I did was H&R -1.4" springs, and immediately felt the dreaded vibration while accelerating. Most noticeable in 2nd gear, lower revs, etc... The same thing everyone says is CV joints. I do still have a question about wether or not a new OEM set will eliminate the issue, and if so, for how long...
But, I've seen lots of references made to a shop here in NC that can make, but so far has not made, a pair for the R56. I contacted them last night, and they have already agreed to "take a look at them" if I send them the axels. I am hoping to minimize downtime by not having to pull axels, and then wait to see if they would even make a set. I've asked them a few questions about this, and I'm waiting to hear back. So, is there is anyone here who has 2007 (or whatever yr is compatible with 2007) Cooper S, 6 speed right and left axles lying around, or, can get there hands on a set? If you are willing to send them in for this "look/see", I think lots of folks around here would greatly appreciate it. I don't mind handling all the communication/details with the shop if you are willing to send them in... I'll even pay for the shipping.
If you have any concerns about me/my motives or my lack of involvement on the board, all I can say is I had the pleasure of meeting 'cerenkov' a few times. He is an awesome guy, and did a fantastic job coding my HID/LED's I did as part of the makeover I gave the car. BTW, I had a projector retrofit done by a local guy... I really need to make a post about some of the things I did. Anyway, cerenkov has met me, been to my house, and I to his. I think he would at least say I was a real person
If you are in the Raleigh, NC area, even better, as I might even drive the axels over to the shop... certainly an option.
Thanks Folks!
Mark
