I was just hoping the ECS is free flowing enough ( it appears to be from design ) with some shelter from the max engine bay air temps. It looks like the AEM does this - with the ability to draw some air from outside. I do have a wagner clone for the intercooler for this car. Just trying to customize to FL heat ( hot - but not quite AZ hot, just more humid ). I have the M7 in my other mini - it does a good job at freeing up restrictions. Hence the ask for any measurements.

Our ECS system does well in the hot, i run it on my R58 JCW every day. Drive in the super hot/wet days we have here in Ohio for many years. Had it at the track on hot summer days. Pulls cold air only from the stock air pickup in the front corner near the headlight. MINI did this to insure cold air and no heat soak. So we followed the same design. Dyno numbers were wheel and done back on our dyno here. Both on my R56 S and my R58 JCW, you can see the stock mapping MINI did and the difference in the how those engine function based off the HP/TQ chart. Some cars will show less/more gains due to climate differences or they did not have a carbon cleaning on the intake, both mine did before the dyno. Both my cars were in great shape and had new plugs/coils and maintained. Both mine were as stock as it can get at that point on the engine and tune.

We designed a drip hole in the one side for water before the intake box and I drove through some heavy rain here and it functioned as it should. I had this intake for years and i just clean the filter and re oil when needed. No Maf oil issues. No CEL or anything weird. Its held up with our design an I think its the closest to the old JCW Tuning intake kit add on but better.

M7 AGS system is not available any more.

I just swapped, yesterday, from an NM Engineering Hot air intake (but boy did it look pretty in the engine bay) to this ECS Tuning CF stockish looking factory air intake with cone air filter.
It definitely helps my manual tranny accelerate smoother from a stopped position into 1st gear (with a hot engine) as I no longer suck in a big gulp of hot air, almost stalling my mini as I accelerate away.

I mean hot air of the engine, not just ambient. But yes, I can't imagine how the heat really messes with air intake in the southern USA. In Calgary, when its 21° C (70° F) all my cars are fine, but anytime (essentially the last 4 months, this year) it gets warmer than that, then all my vehicles feel sluggish, especially my V12 850i. We have been having a lot of 28-32°C temps lately and it does prove to be troublesome for the MINI with the NM Engineering Hot aair intake. Yester when I installed this ECS Tuning CF system, even with 29*° C and my elevation (1,200m, ~4,000ft). I could feel this kit is better for my driving environment. I DO still have the NM Engineering kit, and since I drive the MINI in cold *** weather too, I may swap the systems, like I swap tires I have the parts, and it only takes a few mins...

It would be interesting to compare the NM and ECS ...

In both hot and cold weather. Would require switching at quickly to make sure the climate is the same for the comparisons. And of course - it is seat of the pants

Which upper strut bar braces are compatible with your intake ..

For an R56/R57. BTW - would love if ECS posted weights of the strut braces. Not quite as important as wheel weights ( which are also often hidden ) - but good to know.
