A new O2 sensor will fix this, clearing the code should be done after fixing this, clearing the code will not fix the faulty O2 sensor. ECU will not necessarily go into Limp Mode every time a code is thrown.
If you had Googled "P0036 HO2S Heater Control Circuit (Bank 1 Sensor 2)" you would have found your problem here which tells you what's wrong with your car.

Disconnect the battery for an hour then reconnect, that should reset the ECU. Which O2 sensor did you replace, Bank 1 Sensor 1 or Bank 1 Sensor 2?

i never did figure it out, couldn’t afford to keep throwing parts at the car, ended up selling it but still stuck on it afterwards thinking what it could’ve been I landed on most likely my issue being the diverter valve. Hope that helps!
