Transmission troubles
If there are any Mini techs here I'd appreciate any info you could share on the Aisin auto in my 07 JCW. I bought my little hot rod with 125k on the clock and it has made my 120 mile a day commute quite enjoyable. There is one spot where I can briefly open her up and let her fly, since I've only run out 5th gear 4 or 5 times I don't know if the slipping around 110mph before hitting 6th is a programing feature or the beginnings of what is going on now. Around 164k the 3 to 4 up shift began missing until I took my foot off accelerator and rpm's come down then I could proceed normally. It's very similar to blowing a shift in a manual transmission, neutral until rpm's drop then goes into gear. Due to my babies age and mileage I don't drive spiritedly all the time but I do enjoy a spirited drive now and then. Not being able to shift into 4th normally bothered me so I changed my transmission fluid even though it says lifetime fluid everywhere. Having 35-40 years automotive experience I really don't believe in "permanent" fluids and having shifting issues it wouldn't hurt. Now I can't maintain highway speeds going uphill in 5th or 6th. Any ideas? Thanks for taking the time to read this rather long post. Lydia
