Chattering noise on right side of engine bay during cold start...

So everyday now, when I start my car first thing in the morning (about 40 degrees outside) I hear this very noticeable "chattering" kind of noise coming form the passenger side wheel well, basically this is coming from the passeneger side of the engine bay where all the pulleys are located...

Have any of you noticed this noise on your cars? I should note that as soon as the car has been driven for a few minutes and has fully warmed up, the noise goes away completely... so is this just cold belts? Does a belt or pulley need to be replaced?

My friends 2013 MCS under the same temperature at same time in the morning does not make this sound at all.

If anyone could shed some light, I would be more than appreciative. Thanks.

If you had an earlier gen 2 mini, I'd say the timing chain. We also have a '12 MCS, doesn't do that. So far the n18 engine seems to be pretty solid when it comes to the timing chain, but who knows..

Yeah it's definitely not the timing chain, if I put my ear right infront of the tire, that's where it's the loudest, so it's definitely the pulleys or one of then anyway, I was just curious if anyone else has heard this coming from their n18 engine bay... Otherwise I'm going to have to change every pulley and belt one by one until the noise disappears...

Could just be the belt. How many miles on it? According to my main wrench, 30K is a good time to swap it out, they don't last forever.

Might not be a bad idea to check/replace the belt if it hasn't been done yet. Might also see if you can get a probe in there and listen to the pulleys to see if you can pinpoint it to one of them. Have them here if needed. Good luck and let us know what you find out!

I would check the belt and the tensioner for belt. And that friction wheel: 11287598833

It will sometimes make a clatter. The N18 engine dont usually have the chain issue that why i would check that first, then the oil level, then the chain.

Yeah it's definitely not the chain or chain tensioner because i knew a few guys who had that problem on their n14's and the noise/sound was completely different than what i'm hearing, i'm going to try to get a good sound clip for you guys today when i start it up, been sitting for about 5 hours...

As far as this one belt goes, are there multiple belts like on most cars? Or is there like one main belt that goes to everything? I'm a little uneducated when it comes to this subject. And would the belt be causing a chattering sound? And if it was the belt, would it be normal for the belt to quiet down after the engine warms up completely?

Ah ok, wow that cleared up a lot in one picture haha. So currently I'm at around 45k so the belt should be rights need replacing within the first 30k? If that's so than I may want to change that first. If it turns out NOT being the belt, the next thing to try would be that belt tensioner then, right?
