Brake light

Put new pads, rotors,& sensors 10k miles ago. For the first 10k miles all was good. My brake light is now coming on but it takes several miles before it comes on. Once the key is off it resets and again takes several miles before it comes back on. Would this be the sensor? Before the brake job it was always on.

As of this afternoon it is on full time. It is yellow not red. Is it possible one of the sensors went bad? Checked the pads and they still look new.

Could be a damaged sensor. Inspect the sensor and the wires for any damage. You can try and test the system to see if that is indeed the cause. We have a Brake Pad Sensor Testing DIY that can help you with this process. Also, make sure your brake fluid reservoir isn't low. Good NAM thread here as well.

Does anyone know the difference in the light being yellow or red? Back before I replaced the sensor the light was red, now it is yellow.

Overlooked you saying it was yellow. From this post here, red indicates a maintenance warning light. Was the service indicator light reset after you did the brake job? We have a CBS light reset DIY that can help you with the steps of the reset if needed. In this NAM thread here the yellow light was due to a faulty sensor, but also had the MINI on the lift emblem. Not exactly sure what the color really indicates, but maybe someone else may have more info on this. I'd still suggest check the previous recommendations above. Good luck.

Thanks for the info. Yes the service indicator light was reset. Have went 10k miles with no light until recent with the yellow "brake" light.
