Eninge Oil pan damage - question

Hi all!

I managed to hit a bump the other day that dented my engine oil pan from below. Aside from a tiny crack at the edge, resulting from the incident, the oil pan is still sealed and tight.
It does however have its (inward, to the car's center) bottom dented up into it some.

I was able to seal the crack with JB weld.

Now I started it up and it sounds as if something is mechanically hitting something else. I looked at diagrams but can not get a clear picture so here my question:

Is there something that protrudes into the oil pan from above that might be grinding against the more shallow oil pan bottom now?

I will add pictures tomorrow.

Edit 1: Car is a R56 2008 Mini Cooper Hatchback. I reside in the USA.
Edit 2: I realize that the header has "engine" spelled wrong but I have no option to correct it.

the oil pump pickup does come pretty low, so it's possible it is hitting it.

We sell new oil pans if you need, and also have a couple good used ones.

If you decide to remove the oil pan we have a DIY that may be of assistance.

Need pics, how hard did you dent it ?

Get a new oil pan and seal. Call your insurance and see it they will cover it. Might hit s bad it knocked the oil pickup / strainer.

I would also get a skid plate for a little extra protection.

I'd sure as heck replace that oil pan. It is quite likely that crack will migrate over time. When it starts leaking if you don't notice it right away it will cost you an engine. JB Weld really?

Also dented mine. Where is the oil pickup located in relation to the dent?
