I know for a fact that my car has the cold weather package and I am having the same problem with the cold weather. So, having the cold weather package does not seem to be a deciding factor of having the 'cold weather manifold'. Mine is an early '07 production by the way, so it might have changed in later models.

it's very odd but if you're curious just de code your vin and find out for yourself.
Yes, you seem to have it figured out. Decoding my VIN shows the items that were marketed as the "ZCW cold weather package" like heated seats and heated windshield washer nozzles but the list of standard equipment clearly states "hot climate version" not the "cold climate version" which can be seen on some cars built for Canada.

'07 production year was before they knew about the problem. The "cold weather" manifold was likely developed a year or 2 later. I know that in January 2008 they didn't even acknowledge that they had the problem - at least according to my dealer.

@Eddie07S

Ah, that makes sense. I wasn't sure if they had different manifolds in production back in 07 or not. Thanks for that, I wish the dealer would acknowledge it is a manufacturing fault and fix it free of charge.

Best way is to look at the engine if you have it, Vin will not show it if a dealership installed it after the delivery or for the switch over, all they put on your door jam is the service performed update stamp, circle sticker.

Haha, I just posted in an old thread on this since I'm trying to figure out how older r56s were optioned out and if my mirrors are heated since I want to get the blind spot mirrors for it.

My car has heated washer nozzles from what I can tell, but I'm not sure how to check the mirrors. Only seat heating and washer nozzles are listed on the build sheet though.

I did not know about the intake replacement program until after I bought the new version though. Glad it wasn't more than $40 because I doubt Mini would offer to repay me willingly.

Just an update and great new, we were able to get the rare cold climate version intake back into production under bremmen parts!

Now Canada and Northern USA, Northern Europe, etc MINIs that got this as a dealer replacement can still get it

This part is NLA from MINI. So we are the only option.
