I have 107k on the car. When I bought it at 100k it had a recent new turbo installed. Only mod is AEM CAI. Recently I am getting the cel almost every time I punch it. It goes away shortly after re-start but its super annoying!! Any ideas?

Get a code reader and read the stored code.

MINI specific code tool. In the short term see if you can swing buy a auto parts store that has a code reader for OBD 2 and see if anything comes up , sometime the actron unit will show some codes , but not all.

Get the codes read and you'll have more to go on for diagnostic, as for now; this is just karma for selling an .:R32.

 

Is there any other symptoms other than the CEL triggering? Even if the CEL goes away a code will be stored. You can try and swing buy an Autozone and see what code they can pull if you don't want to purchase a tool, but it may not be a bad investment if you plan to work on your MINI in the future. We use AutoEnginuity HERE. Once you pull the P code it will give you a better idea of what may be going on.

 

Will this tool bleed the ABS system?

 

Has the function for pulsate the abs.

It's getting really annoying, just hitting the gas to quickly get in an out of traffic will throw check engine low power...

R32 - I miss that little fella!! Certainly more refined than the mini My most missed quality about the R was the ability to go around a corner (even 90 deg.) at about any speed you wanted too. Anyone want to trade........

I know the feeling about lost loves, I had a TDI that pulled harder than any MINI I've ever been in that I sold to buy my MINI. Had thousands into it, but now I bought another MKIV Jet TDI and it's undergoing a big turbo build to fill the hole.

 

Some codes in the actron unit will not show, i know I have one and it will not show everything like the Schwaben foxwell unit we have. Hopefully it will pull them. If its been cleared before the actron unit will not show them.

Went to an Autozone and Oreilly auto and no read on the code. Both got errors. I guess I'll need to go to the dealer or independent shop , shoot.

I traded the R for the TDI. Yes big mistake, but the streets are now safer that I'm not driving the R, seriously. It was so difficult not to be constantly on the gas!

I still want another one though!!

 

I would get the schwaben tool HERE , its will read much more the the actron units, i used to get errors allot with actron and that what autozone and other places use.

 

Not to take this too far off topic, but I was poking around in the new .:R at the auto show and it could be the replacement to my MINI, but that whole having a car payment turns me off to the idea.

 

Some generic readers cannot read codes as it may be a dealer code. Be sure to let us know what they find.
