Your filter description is exactly what I saw when I swapped mine out. Touch wood, but I sure hope it was that simple......time will tell.

 

Just over 5K kms since the oil and filter change. I HAVE added a full litre of oil since the change, however .8L of that was over the last two days spent autocrossing in Red Deer, Alberta (thanks CSCC - ridiculously fun!). STILL HAVE SEEN NO RECURRENCE OF LOW OIL PRESSURE LIGHT.

I'll change oil and filter again tonight after work and provide a follow up on the oem filter appearance, but I'm guessing it's going to look 'normal'.

 

Other than residual oil, the OEM filter looked like it had just come out of the box. Hope others have similarly simple solutions to oil pressure issues.
