Transmission issues maybe
So ever since I bought this little blue beast it's been very complicated to exactly tell if the car needs a new trans or not , so the first week when I bought the car it got stuck in one gear while avoiding a accident on the road. Fixed that by turning the car off and waiting a couple minutes. When it happened a second I took it back to the dealer I bought it from and they claimed I was being to rough with the car and that it was a easy fix. Fast forward 5 months and now my car is bucking and shift hard as soon as the trans warms up and it sometimes even pops in and out of gear the car has 73k miles and is long out of warranty. It has the aisin automatic 6 speed with lsd and I'm wonder if it just needs a fluid flush or do I need a new trans all together. Also on my dashboard has a symbol with a cog that comes up in yellow with a explanation mark.

Well I called all the mini dealers in my area and they quoted me for the same price and the shame part is I'm a college student and I just basically bought the car. Hmm I might give it a try and see if that cures the issue if it does I'll make a video on how to remove the trans oil and how to fill it.

I've done a few fluid changes and it definitely helped. I would avoid flushing, since that may loosen junk that isn't a problem right now. Drop the pan, change the filter, and refill with quality fluid. I found quite a bit of debris in the pan, so it was worth the trouble to do this.
As stated above, have someone pull the codes for you.
Good luck.

I used Redline D4 in mine. It should take just under 4 quarts with the filter change, but I would get 5. The pan gasket is reusable, but the drain plug has a crush washer like the engine oil pan. You may want to get one from the dealer.
There is one bolt that is very hard to get to, I drilled a hole in the subframe and used a longer socket to get to it. Make sure that you can get all the fasteners out before you drain the oil. It is worth the extra trouble to drop the pan, there are a couple of magnets in there that can be cleaned and there will likely be some aluminum dust and crap in the bottom of the pan. You will also get almost an additional quart of fluid out of the system (between the filter and the stuff in the pan).
This is one of those jobs that is very difficult not to be messy. Have cardboard and rags/towels.
Have fun,
Mike
