Boost problem.

Hi, i have a 2011 mini cooper s with the n18 engine. I bought it used with 65k and now it has around 67k. When ever i accelerate hard or allow the turbo to build pressure (i think more of when it overboosts) the car hesistates, stutters, starts to pop and bang and i lose power. Its almost like a chugging motion when it happens, also sometimes it has a rough idle. This only happens when allowing the turbo to build pressure, if i drive in automatic and allow the car to shift at low rpms without building psi its fine. Thanks, wanted to know if anyone else has this problem and what it is.

If it is HPFP it is probably covered under extended warranty. Contact dealer and let them run your vin# to check!

so i just had to deal with this so called warranty thing with a buddy's 07 cooper s that had the same problem! when you call and give the dealer the vin number' it does not come up as a warranty item! Not sure about other year mini's. but i called two dealer in my area! one dealer sad no its not cover under warranty! the other dealer sad its not cover as a warranty item but its under "TSB" " tech service bulletin " witch is two different thing's in there world! just a little game some dealer play i guess ! but all my buddy had to do was pay 125 for the diagnostics fee witch was just checking to make sure it wasn't something other then the pump!

I agreed upfront to $99 diagnosis fee, which is not charged if indeed it is the covered pump. It was the pump so n/c.

I think ultimately it boils down to being part of the emissions warranty and in those states that are following California laws you get covered, I could be wrong but it sounds good.

I used my buddies code reader after posting this. Had a cylinder one misfire. Pulled the spark plaugs and they where toast. Ordered some new ones so hopefully that fixes it.
