2011 Thermostat Housing help

So I recently purchased a new thermosata housoing for my mini cooper and have run itno a bit of a snag.

Basically the new thermostat I received from mini mania (Part#G2NME1125E) has inverted connections compared to my original. Meaning the 2 connections from my wiring harness will not connect to the new housing. After contacting mini mania they sent me an adapter that was recommend to go with the housing. The only problem is the adapter takes the two connections and turns them into one connector that I have nowhere to plug in...

I've attached a pic of my original housing, new housing, as well as the adapter if that helps. I just need to know If i got the wrong part or adapter or what. Mini Mania is swearing I have the correct parts for my car but I just don't see how that can be.

Thanks for any help,
-Zach

Did your car have the recall and retrofit done to the thermostat? try searching for the info about that and see if that helps. Its been months since I looked that stuff up and i have no idea where i found it, but i had a similar issue.

Don't know if this helps but my tstat was replaced at dealer. Now the coolant temperature sensor at the metal elbow (near the oil filter housing) is useless and only a placeholder. the new tstat has the sensor on it. Here are the parts # from my papers.

11538674895 - thermostat housing
12518611289 - thermostat adapter

Thank you all for your input.

I've been trying to figure this out for the past few day and I just cant seem to wrap my head around it. I looked through the retrofit guide you posted and It doesn't seem to be what Im looking for. Both of my thermostat housings have two connections on them as well as two plugs from the wiring harness. Whereas if I read the retrofit guide correctly that would mean I would only have one connection on my thermostat right?

Either way, It seems my best bet would be to return the items I got and Try to find the genuine part with the curved temp sensor on top and the thermostat molded into the bottom. Only problem is that it seems to be out of stock everywhere...Im still open to suggestions if yall got 'em.

P.S. This is the part number of the one that looks exactly like the one I took off ( G2NME1129). It would just plug into my harness with no problems from what I can see.

edit:This is my main problem I think. I dont seem so have anywhere to plug this end in (circled in photo). If someone could point out where that plug is on their mini it may point me in the right direction.

You will use 11537534521 part number with 12517646145 harness . Just make sure those are the right part numbers OEM.

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...mp-sensor.html

The main end goes in the corresponding flat old plug and the others into the two temp sensor and other two pin plug on the housing.

yes those are the two parts I have. But I dont see a "flat old plug". The 2 old connectors I pulled off the original thermostat housing dont go back to a plug or anything that I could pull out. they just trace back to under the wiring harness cover and mix in with the rest of the wires.

pics are the two plugs that were attached to the original housing. thats all i have to work with apparently. if anybody has a pic of where this "flat old plug" is I would really appreciate it.

Thanks for everyone's help, I hope we can sort this out.

Does anyone know where the wiring adapter for the temperature sensors plug into? I'm having the same trouble finding where they plug into, as userlain.

Someone cut the wires on mine and put and older water pump on mine, I bought a two to one adapter, cut off the ends of it and cut mine off the car to make it work.

These thermostats are the biggest parts guys problems lately. Their BMW ETK parts program list what thermostat should go on the car along with any adapter. The problem like yours is if you bought the 751 thermostat and the wiring isn’t matching then you need the 895 thermostat. Sometimes you will need an adapter and sometimes you won’t. It depends on the engine wiring harness on your car. There are two thermostats and three adapters out right now. As much as everyone doesn’t want to take cars to the dealer this is one that it’s easier to let the dealer be frustrated than you.

Zach,

any luck in finding where the flat plug adapter goes? I have a similar scenario myself. Thanks, Neal
