Hesitation in higher gears

I have a 2009 Cooper, 6 spd. manual, with 85k miles. It has been hesitating in 4th, 5th, and 6th gear. Typically occurs when it is at a lower RPM (I guess you could say under some load). Makes no difference whether the vehicle is start up or running at normal temp. Also no difference in cold weather or warm weather. Runs fine when you wind up the RPMs. I have hooked up a scanner a couple of times and there are no codes. It still has original plugs. One of the coils (MINI OEM) was replaced about 2 years ago. At that time, it was severely missing and threw a code. Any ideas for me to try before I take it in to get looked at?

^ Start with spark plugs, they don't last the rated 100k miles on the Coopers, we see them at 40k miles with gaps over .050" and even over .060"!

It'd be amazing if your car made it 85k miles with the original plugs, but they may have also been changed once and this is the second round.
