To rebuild or not to?

I recently purchased a 2008 minI cooper s with 80,000 miles for $6,0000. I drove it for about one month and the exhaust cam gear bolt broke and this caused the timing chain to break and the engine locked up. I am considering purchasing a remanufactured engine. Does anyone have suggestions on a good source?

Or should I sell it as is and cut my loses?

You had the exact issue as another NAM member. He ended up shipping me the car from IL to PA for a rebuilt. Luckily, no internal damage other than the chain, some valves, and vacuum pump. The rebuilt was done and the car is up and running great.

if you need to buy an engine, check this website car-part.com

You can get ones used and swap. Some things to find out when used is that the engine is good and has not timing issues itself.
