P0012 Code

All of a sudden my 07 MCS started idling funny. AutoZone pulled a p0012 code. Indicates bank1 intake camshaft position timing was beyond retarded beyond limits for a predetermined period of time? Any clues before I go to dealer?

Just a shot in the dark, but maybe a VANOS solenoid?

Think so

After researching other threads you may be right. I looked to see about cleaning it out but don't know what tools to use. Looks like a torque head bit but what size, seems very small and tight to get to.

You can clean it and see if this resolves your issue, but if it doesn't you may need to replace it. We have some info on the VANOS cleaning and replacement here: http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarti..._Replacing.htm.
