Wheel spacer help

I read a couple threads about them but still have a few ?'s. I have a 2011 r56 with size with 205/45/17 and I want to know what spacer size I can get without any rubbing. My second question is what do you Guys recommended for safety locking lugs I know that this is important and it's my biggest concern about getting spacers I want to make sure the fit is tight. Also what is involved with mainting the tightness of the lugs. Thanks guys

Not the same wheel size as you, but on my 205/45/17s I had to use a 5mm spacer in the front when I lowered my car. For reference my wheel arch pretty much meets the top of my tire in terms of vertical gap. I don't get any rubbing unless I'm hard braking at full turn

You really need to know the offset of your wheel before people can give you the correct answer.

What wheel, not tire, are you using?

Haha I completely forgot about offset. I believe my wheels are +45.

Those are the R90.

http://libraryofmotoring.info/facts/wheels/#17

They have an offset of +48. The same as my R112.

My car is lowered 2", and I have 15mm spacers up front and 17.5mm on the rears. It will only rub up front during very hard 90 degree cornering. Never rubs in the rear.

And to answer you second question, for any over 5mm use the longer lug bolts and torque them to the standard 103 ft-bs and you should not have any issues.

^does the PSS10 kit include camber plates? Just wondering because negative camber affects wheel fitment big time.

I would also advocate an extended stud conversion for ease of maintenance, rather than extended bolts, but that is personal preference.

I rotate the tires once or twice a year and take the wheels off for cleaning a few times a year and the bolts have never been loose.

Those R90's are awesome. We did have a bunch on clearance sale, but they are all gone. None on sale right now, MINI has not had clearance on wheels since last year and I dont see anything in the future.

I have the 20mm all the way around on my r58 JCW in the pics, come with the correct length bolts in black, so no worry on the fitment.

Loose bolts? Where did that come from? My preference for studs has nothing to do with securing the hardware, just the ease of dismount and re-mount.

Does the PSS10 kit involve camber plates or no?

With an offset bellow 35 you will get rubbing issues.
I'm running 30 and I had to work with opening the body around the wheels to fix the rubbing.
The car never was lowered (R56 Base 2010, stock).

No camber plates on my PSS10. Alignment is within factory specs (done at the MINI dealer after I installed them).

But it is important to note you have 8" wide wheels (right?), you can't say "any offset under ET35 will rub". I could safely go sub ET35 on the ET40 6" wide wheels on ours, for instance...

Cool, just checking. it's often overlooked how much negative camber helps tuck the wheels at the top

Not loose bolts, just has the correct length if you end up going the other route. Yea the studs make it so much easier to swap and change wheels. If you go the stud route then you just need the spacers themselves. When you get them all installed post up some pics. Track guys really like the stud conversion for quick change over.
