Phone mount that doesn't block anything (less than $50)

Hi all.
I've been looking for a phone mount (iPhone 7+ size) for my MCS that doesn't block anything and that doesn't cost $50. I really like that Cravenspeed one that mounts to the tach, but I can't (yet) justify $50 to mount my phone when there are so many other less expensive alternatives.

I have tries a couple of the cup holder mounts but they still get in the way of the shifter or switches. I contemplated the CD slot mount, but it would still block stuff.

Anything special you all are using that puts the phone within reach and doesn't block anything?

Thanks a bunch.

Amazon Amazon

Several configurations available. As long as you properly adhere it, it will stay. Locations are different in your car but it is cheap enough to experiment with.

Koomus Pro http://www.koomus.com/pages/koomuspro-series

I have them in three different vehicles for more than 1 1/2 years without fail and I didn't use the optional stronger mounting pad.

Two of the vehicles navigate off road occasionally so they get lots of movement. I dont auto cross the Mini but do drive it rather aggressively. If you don't like the idea of putting it on your dash they have one that utilizes the CD slot (of course it renders your CD player unplayable when in use.

$19.95 on Amazon.

Does the vent mount work?

ProClipUSA.com

Not sure you're going to find anything you actually like under $50...but kudos if you can. I looked around long & hard, at just about everything out there, and I didn't really like anything I saw at that price point. In the end, I decided on a ProClipUSA mount.

I ended up spending about $75 between the car mount, and the phone cradle...but it's is fantastic. ProClip makes car-specific mounting brackets, so it actually works in the MINI...nothing is blocked, yet the phone is easily visible, and has easy access to the USB media port. Then there is a phone-specific cradle that mounts to that bracket.

Here is a link to some photos from my install: http://imgur.com/a/h3O97

I should note the 30-pin to Lightning cable adapter is no longer dangling free as it was in those photos. I took some black velcro, and adhered it to the center console. Not the most elegant, but I couldn't figure out a way to run an adapter up into the center console, and pop it out without drilling...so this this the next best thing.

OK...that doesn't look too bad...and no dash damage from "sticky stuff".

Is it fixed horizontal or does it rotate?

I love it. Within arms reach, easily visible.

I'm not using the "sticky stuff". It's there, but I didn't peel off the plastic backing. It hasn't moved a millimeter, so I see no need to pop the mount off to use it. Even if I do at some point, and it left residue...nothing a little Goo-Gone wouldn't clean up pretty quickly.

It does rotate...you have to loosen/tighten a screw to adjust the orientation.

Thanks for the info....one more question...the mount that goes into the dash, does it come with that flat rectangular plate they show on the site or is it just a bracket with mounting holes in it for the device mount?

My old car, I had a clip that was on the dash, and I have a ring mounted on the back of my phone case that clips on real snug and can rotate. Was wondering about reusing it. I could just mount the clip to that plate and be done.

It's a 2 piece mount...the dash mount, and the phone cradle. The dash mount (which obviously mounts to the dash) has a flat plate with screw holes in it, that the phone cradle then attaches to.

It rotates, tilts, etc. It's actually a suction cup with some light adhesive. They do supply you with a different pad that is intended for a more permanent mount.

$19.95 on Amazon.

This works perfectly for mine (2008 Cooper), they also sell a Green-White version.

ZJ-Marley Magnetic Vent Cell Phone Car Mount Holder for Phones--(Black-Yellow)
(nothing "Magnetic" about it, just a little fork-like attachment.)

https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=...5lTWZIHZm2WIng
I have it inside the vent just to the right of center, perfect for running WAZE but it also aligns for camera use. Has a standard 'Ball' type swivel joint and would take the (Delphi) XM Radio bracket or Garmin GPS ball mount. Holds securely without damaging or marking vent.

I did post a detailed Customer Review on that Amazon (linked above) website.

Here's another vote for the proclip mount. I have a proclip dash clip with a scosche mag mount. It's rock solid, and just out of the way enough to not be disctracting.

I found it on Amazon for $14. Put in in yesterday. A nice little mount and looks good.

Thanks!
