OK, I'll ask... What happened?

Based on the picture alone, looks like it may not be a total loss. A 2013 Cooper S may still have enough residual value. I think most of the damaged parts bolt on-off. Suspension parts are easily replaced.

Front subframe bent, everything sheared off, including the steering rack.
Floorboard, and footwell areas damaged.

Residual is 15K in these parts.

2ft curb with guard rail on the frwy, some a$$wipe thought he/she was more
entitled!! Nowhere to go but the curb.

Yikes!

Based on all that, I'd lean towards totaled. :(

Fiel adjuster was out today, kept his cards close to the vest.
Will know by Wednesday.
Spent more time getting valuation facts. Taking pictures of interior to see how I kept my car, which might be a good sign.

A few years back, I had a Honda Accord that was only a couple years old. Hit a car in an intersection, was able to move it out of the intersection. I duct taped some loose parts back on, drove it to the Honda dealer. I was shocked when a few days later they said it was totaled. You have way more damage..

Man, that sucks, TVPostSound! Glad you are OK, for sure. Could have been worse if you didn't react as quickly as you did. I hit and killed a good-sized stray dog (and I LOVE dogs!) with my 2011 MCS at 50-55 mph, and did quite a bit of damage, but it was still drivable once I zip-tied some stuff together. Ended up being $6800.00 in repairs at MINI of Escondido! Sure adds up quick with these MINI's. Yeah, I am also (unfortunately) in the "totaled" camp....

I hope you got the other drivers information......

Gonzo. The car's almost 5 years old. It's probably worth like 10k.

The adjuster and I already came up with around 15K ACV, so the repairs will be based on that. So assume they will pay up to 10K in repairs.

Insurance regulations in CA state the ACV is determined by comping DEALER sales prices only. then add 9.25% (LA) sales tax and $115 license fees.

My 2013 Cooper S was hit while parked, my insurance said it was worth 13k and the other party's said 14k, all before taxes and license fees too. Also in CA. I had 80k miles.

Was totaled but it had significant damage to the rear quarter and drivers door, and rear suspension. Knew it was totaled from the start, though yours seems to have less damage than mine did to the body but more suspension damage.

With your milage, you might be close, but I'd lean towards totaled.

Well that's might nice of 'em. I figured you'd get what a dealer would give you in trade. So you could probably actually find a similar car for $15k out the door right? 'Cause you sure don't want whatever it is your fixed car will turn into.

Yeah, the point of insurance is to put you into a comparable car you had before the accident.
31K helps, so do the new tires, and maintenance records.

It helped that I also washed the car down, vacuumed, and did the vinyl conditioning on the interior before inspection. He took multiple interior pictures, along with every inch of the exterior.

What AAA does is value the car pre accident, then estimates repair costs, the rest is a risk assesment if the numbers come close.
He did ask "if its borderline, would you prefer a buyout?"

YIKE! I am sorry for your loss! I have been looking at the Bimmers myself but you just are never going to find the same drivers experience in anything but a mini .. just my thought and what I have found in the many years after my mini I am still searching for it and will be back to my third Mini very soon! Good Luck in your future hunt!

Get an F56 JCW, and put a Stage 1 tune on it. In one thread it says it's like 260 HP at the wheels (mine's supposedly about 240). Can you imagine that? I'll tell you mine is pretty scary on almost full acceleration and it's an N18 engine not the new one.

Drive in reverse. Once you go BMW you have to leave our fine forum, isn't that incentive enough to stay MINI?
