Just bought this 2009 Mini Cooper S - How do I change the shift boot?

I just purchased this 09' mini cooper s hardtop to replace my 2010 convertible after totaling it.

The car doesn't have a shift boot currently, should I add a new shift boot?
The link to the one I'm considering from Amazon.

If so, how do I remove the interior trim around the shifter? Youtube is lacking any videos covering this.

Also, does anyone have any suggestions on what I should name him?

Looks like it came with a CravenSpeed shift well cover. I think they have the instructions for installation on their website. Might help to follow the instructions in reverse.

Looks like you’ll need the chrome boot retainer that looks to have been removed by the previous owner. Might try a local salvage yard.

you can pull the *** upwards and be careful not to hit yourself.
either remove the center console or use flate head screw driver and pry on the sides til it comes out.
once done, sell the kit on ebay or here to recover for the new boot.

X2. That is an aftermarket "bootless boot" lol. Pretty cool piece.

Looks like it came with a few mods...front lip, rear wing extension ect. neat
