Valve position - n12 engine
Hi ,
I have a 2007 mini cooper - n12 engine and working on it now.
Timing chain failed and no compression on #4 cylinder , removed head and found this
I sent the head to a machine shop for valve job and
I just got it back and about to install it.
I put the timing tool and I noticed #4 cylinder exhaust valves are open.
When I firast removed the head with timing tool attached , I thought all valves were closed ?
Can anyone confirm #4 exhaust valves are suppoed to open with timing tool attached ?
TIA

Thx
I just finished it up , adaptation reset , valvetronic relearn , vanos reset are all done.
Starts up fine with one code
2891 - DME : Inlet camshaft to crankshaft correlation
Can't find any more info regarding this code.
What is this code ?

I am getting dtc 2891 - inlet camshaft to crankshaft correlation
Checked everything and all look good.
When I do vanos adaptation again , sometime the value is out of range.
After perform the adaptation , it runs nice and smooth.
Let it sit for a while and next cold start , it cranks longer like 4 -5 seconds then it starts with this code again. Dtc 2891.

Ista or Inpa will be better choice but I have my scanner anyway.
By the way the problem was solved.
My amazon timing tool was not a such a good one , I had to retime it with feeler gauge.
there was a bit of slack at intake cam holder.
