2008 r56 cooper s n14 auto tranny removal insight required

Hi new member looking forward to diving into the mini community. Just picked up an 08 cooper s with auto trans that is slipping in 4, 5, and 6th. Drives fine in steptronic mode gears 1,2, and 3. Just looking to swap with used tranny since it's relatively inexpensive but had a question regarding the removal process. I know in the 1st gens I see the tranny can be removed while leaving engine in place, Is this the same for the 2nd gen autos as well or do I need to pull it with the motor? Pictures suggest there might not be enough room to maneuver away from block due to the frame being in the way to pull out from the front. If anyone has any experience it would be greatly appreciated.

When i did my '13 justa, i was able to pull both engine and transmission from the top. On the S model, I opted to removing the nose.

You can remove the box from the left side without removing the engine. Front end in off/subrfame dropped/ left hub assembly out of the way/ and many other bits disconnected. It comes out fairly easily on a trolley once engine is supported and lowered slightly.

Yeah I have the nose off as well def worth the effort but wanted to save the extra work of pulling the motor.

Yeh I forgot to mention im on jacks stands so I won't be able to drop the sub frame. I have the nose off and engine supported but can't tell if there's enough room to pull off the housing from the block. I guess I'll just have to try.
