Crank, no start, unless start fluid but dies soon after.
Help!
09 Mini Cooper S R56. We have done so much I will try to remember everything... in the order we did them!
Cranks but does not start unless starter fluid added. Will only run few seconds and die.
Repairs started when car consistantly had hard cold start and then went into limp mode. After troubleshooting, thought was HPFP. Replaced and no luck. Still went into limp mode. Added Sea Foam fuel injector cleaner but no difference.
Hooked up OBD and had codes for fuel pressure and misfires.
Replaced fuel relay inside car and no change.
Next replaced MAF sensor and no change.
After that replaced fuel filter. Once replaced car would no longer start.
Replaced CMP sensor and the car would still not start. BUT the fuel pressure codes and misfires went away. We check filter and housing and saw it was not priming.
We could hear fuel pump but didnt seem right. Replaced in tank fuel pump. Sound was much louder but still struggles to prime and would not start. Checked inertia switch but still did not want to prime. Fuel was now in filter housing, but not to line. After continuing to try to prime, possible vapor lock, primed and confirmed fuel to HPFP.
Codes now for fuel circuit 1 & 2 fault.
After all the attempts to prime, and not starting we killed battery and replaced battery (it was time anyways).
Tried starting with starter fluid. Would start but quickly die. Tried several times and no luck.
Replaced 5 pring relay in under hood fuse panel incase inadequate spark, no change.
There are now NO codes and an intermittent check engine light.
Replaced CKP sensor and no change.
I'm sure I have forgotten something, but my head in now jumbled.
