Acceleration stumbling?

Hello everyone,

I have a 2011 MCS and recently I have been experiencing an interesting issue. While acceleration, the car occasionally acts as if I am hitting a rev limiter. Sort of like I lose power for a second, let off the gas a little and then return to my previously enjoyable drive. Seems to happen around 4-5k rpm. My research has leaned me to believe that maybe the coils are the problem. Any thoughts?

I had a very similar issue on my 2010. I would describe my issue as more of a chugging or flutter. I could actually see the tachometer needle wavering too. Very odd. Anyway, the fix for me was a simple accelerator pedal swap. A new one was about $60. These are drive by wire accelerators and there is a position sensor in the pedal that can go bad. You can replace just that part but I couldn't find the sensor and replacing the entire pedal was stupid simple. I swapped the pedal. Let it idle for about 10 minutes (supposedly it resets the computer to the new part) and then went for a drive. It was much better but not perfect. It took a few days or so of regular driving to finally finish it off. Hasn't been an issue since.

Here is a previous thread where I discussed with another user with the same problem with a good outcome.

Honestly, those symptoms could be caused by anything. Could be anything from spark plugs to a weak sensor or the fuel pump.

Have you scanned the ECU for error codes? Not all error codes make the dash 'check engine' light come on.

I wouldn't jump to buying new coils unless you have further info to go on. If you don't have stronger evidence to suspect a specific part I'd say it's worth paying for a check over at a good garage who can watch the ECU data live while the engine runs on something like AutoLogic test gear .

I have scanned, and no codes come up. The problem only happens after the car warms up and I am accelerating semi-hard. To add to the problem, the car stalled while I was sitting in neutral. Then Started right back up when I hit the start button. I am at a loss, I have no idea what's going on.

I dont believe that this i'm going to tell is the problem but there is a small percentage so i will proceed.
See if you have the SAME problem when DTC is off..If you dont then i might got you the reason.
When you push hard the clutch might slips...When the clutch slips the dtc cuts you off and you think it like you hit the rev limit.
So the problem is your clutch/flywheel.
1st thing to do is to see if you have the same problem when the DTC is completely off(hold the button for 3-5secs)
