2008 bas vanos actuator position question
Recently swapped a new vanos actuator onto the head..the one that spins and turns the gear for the shaft next to the intake cam. How do you initially set this when you have the cams locked in and tool inserted through the flywheel? I installed it and started attempted to start the car but it wouldn't start. Reset the timing, and rotated the solenoid until the gear was resting against the upper stop, and the car starts but idles rough and hunts for a constant rpm. Any guidance for this?

After much research, I have found the answer to my own question. There is no set position for this when it is installed. Once the valvetronic actuator is replaced, you must perform valvtronic adaptation with a scan tool for the computer to reset the valvetronic stops. Now I'm off to solve other issues with my r56.
