Why are my camber specs out so far?
I had my 2008 Cooper S aligned yesterday after I installed new outer tie rod ends (both were broken after 10k miles...explain that...one was Moog one was FEBI. Clunking like crazy. One side has been changed 2 times in last 30k miles). I am at OEM ride height with OEM or equivalent components. 165k miles total on car. Struts and *all* suspension and bushing components changed 30k miles ago.
How can my camber be out of specification? Something bent?

Kinda looks like that, doesn't it.
Assuming the strut is straight, and allowing for the cast hub that would break before bending, that leaves the lower control arm and related bushings.
If the lower ball joint is inboard from the correct position by about 20 mm that would throw positive camber at the wheel.
T'aint right nohow...
Cheers,
Charlie

Everything is tight. Ive checked the torque specs on the all the suspension bolt many times trying diagnose this clunking until I finally put Chassis Ears on various parts and isolated the 2 tie rod ends. Clunking stopped with the new tie rods ends and of course the the new parts necessitated an alignment.
The rear control arms were changed with FEBI as well years ago. Maybe they bent....from the massive postholes and these horrific run flats.
Who knows...
